दि अंबिका महिला सहकारी बँकेची स्थापना -संस्थापिका प्रा. सौ. मेघाताई काळे.

महिलांसाठी स्वतंत्र बँक नव्हती, की ज्याच्या सभासद व संचालक महिलाच असतील, आणि ध्येय धोरणे देखील महिलाच ठरवतील.

महिलांचा आर्थिक विकास होईल असे उद्दिष्ट असणाऱ्या महिला बँकेची आवश्यकता होती.

त्या दृष्टीने कै. ह. कृ. तथा बाळासाहेब काळे यांच्या प्रेरणेने महिलांसाठी स्वतंत्र बँक व्हावी यासाठी मुख्य प्रवर्तक म्हणून काम सुरु केले. प्रचंड अवघड असे काम काही भगिनींच्या सहकार्याने, सहाय्याने करताना अनेक समस्यांवर मात केली.

प्रथम सर्व शहराचा सर्व्हे करुन एकूण लोकसंख्या, त्यातील महीलांची संख्या, उद्योग, व्यवसाय, नोकरी करणाऱ्या तसेच गृहिणी असलेल्या महिलांची संख्या अशी व काही इतर माहिती मिळून तो सर्व्हे रिपोर्ट प्रथम “जिल्हा उपनिबंधक कार्यालय, अहमदनगर” येथे मंजुरीसाठी दिला..

मग तो रिपोर्ट नाशिकच्या व नंतर पुण्याच्या सहकार कार्यालयात पाठवला तेथे मंजूरी मिळून तो मुंबईच्या रिझर्व्ह बँकेच्या कार्यालयात पाठवला. पती कै. यशवतराव काळे तसेच इतर अनेक पुरुषमंडळीचेही सहकार्य मिळाले..

तो रिपोर्ट एक आदर्श रिपोर्ट मानला गेला. रिझर्व्ह बँकेने बँक सुरु करण्यास परवानगी दिली व पुढील पूर्तता करण्यास सांगितले. त्याप्रमाणे रुपये ३ लाखाचे भागभांडवल गोळा करायचे होते. आम्ही महिलांनी घरोघरी जाउन शेअर्सपोटी रुपये ४ लाख गोळा केले. बँकेला ९ डिसेंबर १९८७ ला लायसेन्स मिळाले मग जागा पहाणे, स्टाफ नेमणे, स्टेशनरी, छपाई, फर्निचर, सेवक नेमणे अशी सर्व तयारी केली. ४ जानेवारी १९८८ ला भव्य उद्घाटन सोहळा होऊन बँकेचे प्रत्यक्ष कामकाज सुरु झाले बँकेला देवी अंबिकेचे नाव देण्यात आले.

प्रथम बँकेला अनेक समस्यांना सामोरे जावे लागले. ठेवी येऊ लागल्या. पण कर्जवितरण करताना फक्त महिला सभासदांनाच ते करायचे असल्याने आणि महिलांच्या नावावर मालमत्ता नसल्याने तारणासाठी अडचणी येऊ लागल्या. मग पती, मुलगा हमीदार घेऊन पगारदार, जमीनदार घेऊन प्रश्न सोडला.

विवाह, शिक्षण, आजारपण त्याचप्रमाणे घराचे स्वप्न पूर्ण करण्यासाठी कर्जवितरण केले. पण बँकेचे महत्वाचे उदिष्ट होते महिलांचे आर्थिक स्वातंत्र्य व विकास ..! स्वत:च्या पायावर उभे राहण्यासाठी विविध उद्योग व्यवसाय सुरु करण्यासाठी, जनरल स्टोअर्स, पिठाची गिरणी, फॉल पिको मशीन, स्वेटर तयार करण्याचे मशीन, भाजीपाला व्यवसाय, कापड व्यवसाय, चहाची गाडी अशा पारंपारिक व्यवसायाबरोबरच झेरॉक्स मशीन, कॉम्प्यूटर,

फेब्रिकेशन व्यवसाय, खडी करणारे मशीन, पशुखाद्य व्यवसाय अशा आधुनिक व्यासायासाठी कर्जवितरण केले. जिल्हा उद्योग केंद्राच्या सहकार्याने महिला प्रशिक्षण वर्गाचे आयोजन केले. महिलांनी तयार केलेल्या वस्तूची प्रदर्शने भरवली

The Ahmednagar District Central Co-operative Bank ltd. Ahmednagar was registered on 3^rd Oct 1957,under section 10 of the Bombay Sate Co-operative Act 1925, with its head quarters at Ahmednagar. The bank started functioning from 1^st May 1958. This bank is the central financing agency of the distnct and began its journey towards the noble aim of helping weaker sections of the community and poor rural masses to improve their level and living through cooperation. The area of operation of the bank is confined to Ahmednagar district, which consists of 14 talukas covering 1503 villages and eleven towns. The ADCC bank started its operation with an initial amount of share capital was Rs. 11.22 lakhs and Rs, 149.34 lakhs as working capital, The amount of deposit was Rs. 55.48 lakhs and loan disbursement was Rs. 126.29 lakhs at the end of 30^th June 1958. The bank opened 17 Branches in the district in the same year. During the last 40 years ADCC bank Ahmednagar has shown remarkable progress in all types of activities and functions. Today the bank has 289 branches spread over the entire district. The bank has been awarded ‘A, Audit classification from in the last many years.
