Nighoj Kund – The Natural Potholes

Nighoj, Maharashtra, India

Nighoj is a rapidly developing village between the Kukadi and Ghod rivers, about 90km from Pune.
This place is famous for the naturally created potholes on the riverbed of the Kukadi River. Experts from all over the world come here every year to study the phenomenon of their formation.

Geologists say these potholes are the result of a once excessive rainfall in this region, leaving to the huge force of the Kukadi river carrying and swirling boulders amongst these gorges, grinding them into pot shaped holes. Sounds reasonable, and looks gorgeous.
